Online Caste Certificate Application

Mission Bhumiputra is one of the most awaited missions of the Government of Assam. Mission Bhumiputra has been launched by Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on 1st August 2022. This mission has been launched under the Department of Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes. Under this mission, applicants will be able to submit their applications for caste certificates through the web portal. This is an excellent initiative by the government to reduce the hassle of getting caste certificates in Assam. Under this mission, applicants can submit applications for a Scheduled Caste Certificate, Scheduled Tribe (Hills) Certificate, Scheduled Tribe (Plains) Certificate and OBC/MOBC Certificate. Now, the Mission Bhumiputra has been merged with the state service portal Sewa Setu (formerly known as RTPS).

Name of Document: Caste Certificate

Name of Portal: Sewa Setu (formerly known as RTPS).

Application For: Under this mission, eligible applicants can submit their application for the following caste certificates.

  • Scheduled Caste Certificate
  • Scheduled Tribe (Hills) Certificate
  • Scheduled Tribe (Plains) Certificate
  • OBC/MOBC Certificate.

Name of Department: Department of Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes.

Name of Organization: Government of Assam

Eligibility Criteria of Caste Certificate

Nationality: Applicants must be Indian citizens.

Domicile: Applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam.

Caste: Applicants must belong to SC, ST or OBC/ MOBC.

How to Apply for a Caste Certificate?

Applicants who come under the mentioned caste and are willing to submit their caste certificate application must visit the official web portal to submit the application. A permanent resident of Assam will be able to submit his/her application for the caste certificate of Assam. Applicants can follow the following steps to complete their caste certificate application process.

Click on the Caste Certificate Application link.
Now, an official web portal will load in the new tab of your browser.
In that portal, you will need to click on the Login/Registration option.
Note that to log in to the portal, you must have an ePraman account.
If you don’t have an ePraman account, you can click on the “New user? Sign up for MeriPehchaan” option to create an account.
After creating an ePraman account, you will have to login with your details.
After successful login, you will get an application form for the caste certificate.
In that form, you have to give all the information asked and click on the “Save & Next” button.
Now, you will be redirected to another page where you have to upload your photo and documents in the specified file format and size.
After completing the above step, you will get a preview of your application. Verify your details carefully and click on the “Make Payment” option to complete the process.
After successful payment, your application will be submitted and an acknowledgement will be generated.
Keep a copy of that acknowledgement for future use.

Required Documents to Upload

Applicants will have to make ready the following documents or files before proceeding with the application process for the caste certificate because these documents will need to be uploaded on the portal to complete the online application process.

File Format: The file format of the photograph should be in JPG. The file format of all other documents except the photograph should be in PDF.

File Size: The maximum file size should be 1 MB. The files bigger than 1 MB will not be accepted by the portal.

2. Proof of Date of Birth (Birth Certificate/ Aadhaar Card/ PAN/ Admit Card issued by any recognized Board of Applicant
3. Proof of Residence(One of Permanent Resident Certificate/ Aadhaar Card/ EPIC/ Land Document/ Electricity Bill/ Ration Card of Applicant or Parent)
4. Caste Certificate of Father OR Recommendation of authorised caste/ tribe/ community organization notified by State Govt.
5. Any other document (Voter List, Affidavit, Existing Caste Certificate, etc.)
6. Upload a Scanned Copy of the Application Form (Incase of applying from PFC/CSC).
