SBI CBO Selection Process

The selection process for SBI CBO 2026 has four phases. Candidates need to clear each stage to move to the next.

Online Examination

The merit list after the online exam is drawn Circle-wise and Category-wise based on aggregate marks. Around three times the number of vacancies per Circle and Category will be shortlisted for the Screening stage, subject to candidates meeting the minimum aggregate score set by the Bank.

Screening

The Screening Committee reviews the online applications and documents of shortlisted candidates. The committee checks whether candidates meet the experience criteria and matches their job profile (certified by their employer) with the job profile of a Scale-I Generalist Officer at SBI. Applications where the job profile does not substantially match will be rejected. The Bank’s decision in this regard is final.

Interview

The interview carries 50 marks. Candidates must achieve the minimum qualifying marks set by the Bank to be considered for final selection.

Final Merit List

Candidates must qualify in both the Online Test and the Interview separately. The final merit list uses a 75:25 weightage: Online Test marks (out of 170) are converted to 75, and Interview marks (out of 50) are converted to 25. The combined score out of 100 determines the final merit, drawn Circle-wise and Category-wise.

Local Language Proficiency Test

Candidates provisionally selected through the online test, screening, and interview will need to pass a Local Language Proficiency Test before joining. Candidates who have studied the specified local language as a subject up to the 10th or 12th standard are exempt from this test.

Note: As per the corrigendum dated 11 February 2026, the earlier requirement for candidates from private Scheduled Commercial Banks to draw a minimum annual gross salary of ₹9.50 lacs has been removed. This clause no longer applies.
