SBI CBO Selection Process
The selection process for the SBI Circle Based Officer (CBO) Recruitment 2025 consists of three phases: Online Test, Screening, and Interview. Each stage is designed to assess candidates’ skills and competencies comprehensively.
Online Test
The online test includes Objective Tests for 120 marks and a Descriptive Test for 50 marks. The Descriptive Test will be conducted immediately after the Objective Test, and candidates will need to type their answers on the computer.
Objective Test: The objective test has a duration of 2 hours and is divided into 4 sections, totalling 120 marks. Each section has a designated time allocation.
Topic | Questions | Duration |
---|---|---|
English Language | 30 | 30 Minutes |
Banking Knowledge | 40 | 40 Minutes |
General Awareness/Economy | 30 | 30 Minutes |
Computer Aptitude | 20 | 20 Minutes |
Total | 120 | 2 Hours |
Descriptive Test: This test has a duration of 30 minutes. It assesses proficiency in English Language through Letter Writing and Essay tasks, comprising two questions totalling 50 marks.
The merit list will be compiled on a Circle-wise and Category-wise basis, considering the aggregate marks obtained in the Online Test. There are no sectional qualifying marks. Approximately three times the number of Circle-wise and Category-wise vacancies, candidates will be shortlisted for the Screening phase from the top of the merit list. This is subject to candidates achieving the minimum aggregate qualifying score determined by the Bank.
Negative Marking: There will be no penalty for wrong answers marked in Objective Tests.
Screening
Online applications and documents of shortlisted candidates will be reviewed by the Screening Committee. The committee will examine whether candidates fulfill the required eligibility criteria of experience. They will match the job profile submitted by candidates (certified by their existing/previous employers) with the job profile of Scale-I Generalist Officer of the State Bank of India.
If the job profile does not match substantially or is different from the job profile of Scale-I Generalist Officer, the application will be rejected. The Bank’s decision in this regard is final and binding. Candidates who fulfill the experience requirements as determined by the Screening Committee will be called for interview.
Interview
The interview carries a weightage of 50 marks. Candidates must achieve the minimum qualifying marks in the interview to be eligible for final selection. The Bank will determine the specific minimum qualifying marks for this stage.
Final Selection
Candidates must qualify separately in both the Online Test and Interview. The marks obtained in the Online Test (both Objective and Descriptive Tests) will be combined with the marks obtained in the Interview to create the final merit list.
The final merit list is established through normalization of marks with a weightage of 75:25 respectively:
- Online Test marks (out of 170) are converted to out of 75 marks
- Interview scores (out of 50) are converted to out of 25 marks
The final merit list is compiled on a Circle-wise and Category-wise basis by aggregating the converted marks from the Online Test and Interview, resulting in a total out of 100. Selection will be conducted from the candidates ranked at the top of the merit list prepared on a Circle-wise and Category-wise basis.
