Selection Process of SBI Recruitment
The selection process for Circle Based Officers will comprise an Online Test, Screening, and Interview.
Online Test
The online test will encompass Objective Tests for 120 marks and a Descriptive Test for 50 marks. The Descriptive Test will be conducted immediately after the conclusion of the Objective Test, and candidates will be required to type their Descriptive Test answers on the computer.
(i) Objective Test: The objective test will have a duration of 2 hours and will be divided into 4 sections, totalling 120 marks. Each section will have a designated time allocation.
Name of Topic | No. of Questions | Duration |
---|---|---|
English Language | 30 | 30 Minutes |
Banking Knowledge | 40 | 40 Minutes |
General Awareness/ Economy | 30 | 30 Minutes |
Computer Aptitude | 20 | 20 Minutes |
Total | 120 | 2 Hours |
(ii) Descriptive Test: The Descriptive Test will have a duration of 30 minutes. It will assess proficiency in the English Language through tasks such as Letter Writing and Essay, comprising two questions and totalling 50 marks.
The merit list will be compiled on a Circle-wise and Category-wise basis, considering the aggregate marks obtained in the Online Test. There won’t be any sectional qualifying marks. Approximately three times the number of Circle-wise and Category-wise vacancies, candidates will be shortlisted for the Screening phase from the top of the merit list drawn on a Circle-wise and Category-wise basis. This is subject to a candidate achieving the minimum aggregate qualifying score, as determined by the Bank.
Negative Marking: There will be no penalty for wrong answers marked in Objective Tests.
Screening
Online application and documents of candidates, who are shortlisted based on performance in online examination, will be placed before the Screening Committee. The Screening Committee constituted by the Bank will examine whether the candidates fulfil the required eligibility criteria of experience. The Committee will match the job profile submitted by the candidates (certified by their existing/ previous employer(s) with whom they are/were employed) with the job profile of Scale-I Generalist Officer of the State Bank of India. In case their job profile does not match substantially or is different than the job profile of Scale-I Generalist Officer of State Bank of India, then the application of the candidate will be summarily rejected. The decision of the Bank in this regard would be final and binding on all candidates. No representation or correspondence will be entertained by the Bank in this regard. The candidates, who fulfil the required experience as decided by the Screening Committee, will be called for interview.
Interview
The interview stage will carry a weightage of 50 marks. Candidates must achieve the minimum qualifying marks in the interview to be eligible for final selection. The Bank will determine the specific minimum qualifying marks for this stage.
Final Selection
Candidates must qualify separately in both the Online Test and Interview. The marks obtained in the Online Test, encompassing both the Objective and Descriptive Tests, will be combined with the marks obtained in the Interview to formulate the final merit list. The final merit list will be established through the normalization of marks scored in the Online Test and Interview, with a weightage of 75:25, respectively.
The marks obtained by candidates in the Online Test (out of 170 marks) are converted to out of 75 marks, while the Interview scores (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25 marks. The final merit list, compiled on a Circle-wise and Category-wise basis, is determined by aggregating the converted marks from the Online Test and Interview, resulting in a total out of 100. Selection will be conducted from the candidates ranked at the top of the merit list prepared on a Circle-wise and Category-wise basis.
