SAMARTH Admission Portal
The Directorate of Higher Education, Assam, has started the registration process for UG admissions through the SAMARTH Admission Portal. SAMARTH is a common online application portal where students across Assam can apply for admission to undergraduate courses such as BA, BCom, BSc, and other programmes offered by colleges and universities in the state. Students need to visit the portal, create an account, and submit their admission applications online. The Government of Assam had earlier launched the DARPAN portal for HS first-year admissions in a similar move to bring all college admissions under one platform.

The Directorate of Higher Education, Assam, has developed an online admission portal called SAMARTH. Through this portal, students can apply for admission to undergraduate courses at various colleges and universities across Assam. Instead of submitting separate applications to different colleges, students can now apply to up to 10 institutions through a single portal. The portal also prevents duplicate admissions; each student can take admission in only one institute at a time. On top of that, it helps institutions and the government implement welfare schemes for students more directly.
Assam Admission Fee Waiver Scheme
Students should note that the Assam Government’s fee waiver scheme will only be available to those who take admission through the SAMARTH portal. According to the official notification, the fee waiver scheme has been linked to SAMARTH. So if you want to avail the fee waiver benefit, you must apply through this portal. We recommend all students use the SAMARTH online admission portal for taking admission into colleges and universities in Assam.
APAAR ID for SAMARTH Registration
Students are encouraged to link their APAAR ID while registering on the SAMARTH portal. If you do not have an APAAR ID yet, you should register for one before starting your admission application. APAAR (One Nation One Student ID) is a unique identification number for students across India.
How to Apply for Assam College Admission?
Students who have appeared for or passed the HS final exam (or equivalent) can apply for admission to colleges and universities in Assam through the SAMARTH Online Admission Portal. Keep in mind that while applications are submitted online through SAMARTH, the actual admission process is done offline at the college. After submitting your application on the portal, merit lists will be published. Based on the merit list, students will need to visit their respective institutes to complete the admission process.
