The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released an official notification for the recruitment of 650 Assistant posts. This is a country-wide recruitment, and candidates from all states can apply for their respective regional offices. Online applications are open from 16 February 2026 to 8 March 2026 through the RBI’s official website at www.rbi.org.in.

Mumbai has the highest number of vacancies at 249 (which includes 23 for Belapur and 2 for Panaji). The Guwahati office has 36 vacancies, covering Agartala (2), Aizawl (1), Imphal (2), and Shillong (3) in addition to the Guwahati office itself.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit (as on 1 February 2026): Candidates must be between 20 and 28 years of age. This means only those born between 2 February 1998 and 1 February 2006 (both dates inclusive) are eligible. You can use our Age Calculator to verify your age as per the cutoff date.
Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation (up to 33 years), OBC candidates get 3 years (up to 31 years), and PwBD candidates get 10 to 15 years depending on category. Ex-Servicemen get relaxation equal to their service period plus 3 years, up to a maximum of 50 years. Cumulative age relaxation is not available.
Educational Qualification: A bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognized university. SC/ST/PwBD candidates need only pass class marks. Candidates must also have knowledge of word processing on PC. Applicants should be proficient in the local language of the state they’re applying for — this will be tested in the Language Proficiency Test.

Both exams carry a penalty for wrong answers, 1/4th of the marks allotted to a question will be deducted for each incorrect response. Candidates must qualify in each section separately. The exam (except English Language) will be available in English, Hindi, and certain regional languages, depending on the office. For the Guwahati office, the exam will be available in English, Hindi, Assamese, Manipuri, and Bengali.

Applications are accepted only through the official website. No offline applications will be entertained. Before applying, candidates should keep a scanned photograph (200 x 230 pixels, 20-50 KB), signature (140 x 60 pixels, 10-20 KB), left thumb impression, and a handwritten declaration ready. Note: Candidates can apply for only one office. The exam centre must be within the same state as the office applied for. If multiple registrations are made, only the last one will be considered.
After the application window closes, RBI will provide a 2-day edit window where candidates can correct limited fields (Exam Centre, Father’s/Mother’s Name, and 10th/12th percentage) by paying a fee of ₹200 (inclusive of GST). The edit window dates will be announced on the RBI website.
