The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is going to conduct the Preliminary Examination for the post of Assistant on 11 April 2026. A total of 650 Assistant vacancies have been notified across 17 RBI offices in the country. Candidates who submitted their online applications between 16 February 2026 and 8 March 2026 are able to download their admit cards from the official RBI website.
The admit card for the Preliminary Examination is available from 2 April 2026. The Guwahati office has 36 vacancies, which covers Assam and other northeastern states including Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura. RBI Assistant Preliminary Exam Pattern
The Preliminary Examination has three sections — English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability. There are 100 questions carrying 100 marks in total, and the exam duration is 60 minutes. Each section has a separate time limit of 20 minutes. Wrong answers attract a penalty of 1/4th mark. Candidates must qualify in each section separately to be shortlisted for the Main Examination.

RBI Assistant Main Exam Pattern
Candidates who clear the Preliminary Examination will appear for the Main Exam, tentatively scheduled for 7 June 2026. The Main Exam has five sections with 200 questions and 200 marks, to be completed in 135 minutes. Section-wise time limits apply here as well. After the Main Examination, shortlisted candidates will go through a Language Proficiency Test (LPT) in the local language of their respective state.

Ration Card and Learner’s Driving License are not accepted as valid ID proof. Mobile phones, calculators, and all electronic communication devices are strictly banned inside the exam premises.
