Gauhati University PG Admission
Gauhati University is a well-known higher education institution in Assam. Every year, Gauhati University conducts the Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET) to select meritorious students for admission to various postgraduate courses. For this year, the official notification regarding the GU PGET 2024 was released on 15th June 2024. According to the notification, the Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET)-2024 will be conducted in 10 centres across the North Eastern states for admission to postgraduate courses under Gauhati University and its affiliated colleges for the academic year 2024-2025.

Eligibility Criteria of GU PG Admission
Students who have graduated with a minimum of 24 credits in the specific subject they wish to pursue for their PG, either with a Major/Honours or with a Regular Course, are eligible to submit online applications for the Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET) of Gauhati University. Candidates who appeared or are appearing in the 6th Semester BA/BSc/BCom/BVoc Examinations, 2024 and are waiting for their results are eligible to appear in the PGET-2024 and obtain provisional admission if selected. However, candidates must submit their Final Gradesheet/Marksheet within 7 days of the result being declared. Failure to do so will result in the withdrawal of their seat.
Candidates who appeared or are appearing in the 6th Semester BA/BSc/BCom/BVoc Examinations, 2024 and are waiting for their results, but have backlogs in earlier semesters, are also eligible to appear in the PGET-2024 and obtain provisional admission if selected. Other Details of GU PG Admission
Application Fee: If an applicant applies for one PG program, the application fee will be Rs.1000/-. For two programs, the application fee will be Rs.1500/-, and for three PG programs, the application fee will be Rs.2000/-. Application fees can only be paid online using a debit card, credit card, or internet banking. The link to the payment gateway will be provided in the online application portal.

Schedule of GU PG Entrance Test
As per the official notification, Gauhati University will conduct the Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET) 2024 from 9th to 11th July 2024. The schedule of GU PGET is as follows.

Negative Marking: For each wrong answer, a 0.25 mark will be deducted.

An applicant can appear in the Gauhati University Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET-2024) in a maximum of 3 (three) subjects. They can choose only one subject from Traditional Programmes and two subjects from Interdisciplinary Programmes. Additionally, candidates should not apply for more than one subject from the same session on the same date as mentioned in the schedule for entrance tests.

GU PG Entrance Test Admit Card
Students who submit applications for the Gauhati University Post Graduate Entrance Test 2024 must download their admit card from the official portal to participate in the exam. The admit card is a mandatory document for participation in GUPGET-2024, and without it, no student will be allowed inside the examination hall. According to the official notification, Gauhati University will release the admit cards on 4th July 2024.
