Cotton University PG Admission 2026

Cotton University, Panbazar, Guwahati has released the official notification for admission into Postgraduate Programmes for the academic session 2026-27. Online applications are invited for 7 programmes across disciplines: MA, MSc, MCA, MCom, MLISc, and LLM. The admission portal opened on 12 June 2026, and online registration closes on 21 June 2026. Candidates must complete and submit their forms with payment before 22 June 2026 at 11 PM.

Admission to most programmes is through the Cotton Post-Graduate Entrance Examination (CPGEE-2026), an MCQ-based written test tentatively scheduled in the first week of July 2026. The only exception is the MSc in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (MBBT), where 10 Open Category seats are filled through GAT-B 2026 scores. All candidates, including Cotton University graduates, must pay the application fee of ₹1,200 at the time of registration.

Eligibility Criteria for Cotton University PG Admission 2026

The minimum eligibility for all PG programmes is a Bachelor’s Degree of at least 3 years (or 6 semesters) duration from a recognised university. Candidates appearing in their qualifying examination in 2026 are also eligible to apply. For LLM, the minimum qualification is an LLB Degree.

Gap in Study: Candidates with more than 3 years of study gap, meaning those who passed their qualifying exam before 2023, are not eligible for admission. This restriction does not apply to the LLM programme.

Reservation Policy

The reservation policy of the Government of Assam applies to both Cotton Graduate and Open Category seats, except for the 10 DBT-sponsored MBBT seats in Open Category, where Government of India norms under DBT apply.

5% of seats are reserved for Differently Abled (PWD) candidates as per Government of Assam rules. Candidates under this category must appear physically before a Board of Medical Experts on a date to be notified by the Office of the Director of Students’ Welfare, Cotton University.

A few seats are also available under the EC (Extra and Co-Curricular) Quota for students with outstanding achievements in Sports, Cultural performances, NCC, NSS, Scouts and Guides, etc. Caste/Tribe certificates from other states are not valid; only certificates issued by the Competent Authority under the Government of Assam are accepted.

Step 1: Go to the Important Links section below and click the Application Form link to open the official Cotton University admission portal.
Step 2: Register using your valid email ID and mobile number. Complete the one-time registration process before 21 June 2026 at 11:00 PM.
Step 3: Log in with your registered credentials and fill in the online application form carefully, following the on-screen instructions.
Step 4: Upload required documents — photograph, signature, and relevant certificates as specified.
Step 5: Pay the application fee of ₹1,200 online through the web portal. Keep the payment receipt for your records.
Step 6: Submit the completed application form before 22 June 2026 at 11:00 PM. Take a printout of the submitted form for future reference.

Note: There is no provision for offline submission of applications. If you want to apply for more than one PG programme, you must complete a separate application for each programme and pay the ₹1,200 fee separately for each. No change of CPGEE-2026 schedule will be made in case of date/time clashes for candidates applying to multiple programmes.
