Assam GNM Admission 2026
On 30 March 2026, the Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS) published an official notification regarding the GNM Entrance Examination 2026. This entrance exam will be held for admission into the GNM course in government and private medical education institutes across Assam. Students who want to pursue the GNM course under the Directorate of Health Services, Assam, will have to appear in this exam. SSUHS has scheduled the entrance examination for 28 June 2026 at 12 exam centres across the state. Online application forms are available on the University website from 10 April 2026 to 30 May 2026.

Total Marks: 100 Marks
Total Questions: 100 Questions (1 Mark each)
Subjects: English (50 marks), Mathematics (25 marks), and General Science (25 marks)
Question Standard: Class 10th standard
Medium: The question paper will be in both English and Assamese. However, the OMR sheet must be filled in English only.
Negative Marking: There is no negative marking for wrong answers. Unanswered questions will be awarded zero marks.
Examination Fee: Candidates applying for the GNM Entrance Examination are required to pay a non-refundable examination fee online through the payment gateway on the University website. PwD (Divyang) candidates with 40% or above disability are exempted from paying the examination fee.
Eligibility Criteria of GNM Admission
Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of India.
Permanent Resident Certificate: A PRC is mandatory for admission in the Government Institutes of Assam.
Age Limit: The minimum age for admission is 17 years as on 31 December of the year in which admission is sought. You can use our Age Calculator to check your eligibility.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess any one of the following educational qualifications to be eligible for GNM admission:
| 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English individually from any recognized board. Candidates from State Open School recognized by State Government and NIOS recognized by Central Government are also eligible. Science is preferable. Three (core elective) subject marks may be taken for calculating the percentage of marks excluding English. The candidate must have pass marks in English. |

| 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized CBSE board/State/Centre. |

SC/ST Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get a 5% relaxation in qualifying marks as per INC norms.
Medical Fitness: All candidates must be medically fit.
How to Apply for SSUHS GNM Admission?
Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can submit their applications through the University website. The online application form is available from 10 April 2026 to 30 May 2026. During the application process, candidates will need to fill in their personal details and educational qualifications, and upload their photograph and signature.
At the final stage, candidates will need to pay the examination fee through the online payment gateway. After successful payment, they will receive an acknowledgement confirming that the application has been submitted. Candidates should save their Application Number and Password — without these, they will not be able to download their Admit Cards later.
No documents need to be sent to the University at this stage. Verification of documents related to eligibility, reservation, etc., will be done during counselling.
