The vacancies are tentative. Category-wise reservations are available in the official notification. SSC does not allocate these vacancies state-wise, and candidates selected for CAPF posts may be posted anywhere in India.
Eligibility Criteria of SSC CPO Recruitment
Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens or subjects of Nepal or Bhutan. Candidates from Nepal or Bhutan require a Government of India eligibility certificate before appointment.
Delhi Police SI and CAPF SI (GD): Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent. Appearing candidates can apply, but their qualifying result must be declared on or before 30 September 2026. Merely completing the examination by that date is not sufficient.
CISF SI (Fire): This post is for male candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, or Matriculation with a three-year diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automobile, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical or Telecommunication Engineering, or the equivalent qualification specified in the notice. The qualification must be from a recognized university, board or institution and acquired by 30 September 2026. A relevant B.Tech or M.Tech is accepted under the diploma route only when the candidate also holds the basic diploma qualification.
Ex-Servicemen: The notice provides a separate qualification concession for matriculate Ex-Servicemen with 15 years of Armed Forces service, limited to reserved Group C SI posts in Delhi Police. Applicants using this concession must check the service and release conditions in paragraphs 5.7 and 5.8 of the notification.
Driving Licence: Male candidates seeking Delhi Police SI posts must possess a valid LMV driving licence for both motorcycle and car on the date fixed for PE&MT. Candidates without this licence can be considered only for CAPF posts, subject to the other eligibility conditions.
Age Limit and Relaxation
Delhi Police SI and CAPF SI (GD): 20 to 25 years as on 1 August 2026. The eligible date-of-birth range is 2 August 2001 to 1 August 2006, inclusive, before relaxation.
CISF SI (Fire): 18 to 30 years as on 1 August 2026. The eligible date-of-birth range is 2 August 1996 to 1 August 2008, inclusive, before relaxation.
Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates receive 5 years and OBC candidates receive 3 years. Eligible Ex-Servicemen receive 3 years after deducting military service from their actual age as on 30 September 2026.
Delhi Police Exceptions: Widows, divorced women and judicially separated women who have not remarried can apply up to 35 years, or 40 years for SC/ST candidates. Eligible Delhi Police departmental candidates with at least 3 years of regular, continuous service by 30 September 2026 can apply up to 30 years for UR/EWS, 33 years for OBC and 35 years for SC/ST.
Selection Process of SSC CPO Recruitment
The selection process involves Paper-I, the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Endurance Test (PET), Paper-II, medical examination, and document verification. PST/PET and medical examination are qualifying stages. Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PET, but must meet the physical and medical standards.
Final Merit: Final selection is based on Paper-II marks, including applicable NCC bonus marks, and the candidate’s post/force preferences. Paper-I is used to shortlist candidates for PST/PET. To be considered for final selection, candidates must submit their online post preferences within the period announced after the Paper-II result.
SSC CPO Exam Pattern
Paper-I: 100 questions carrying 100 marks, with 1 hour in total. General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension each have 25 questions for 25 marks. Each section has a separate timer of 15 minutes.
Paper-II: 160 questions carrying 320 marks, with 2 hours in total. Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness, and Quantitative Aptitude each have 20 questions for 40 marks and a separate 20-minute timer. English Comprehension has 100 questions for 200 marks, with 1 hour allotted.
Negative Marking: Each incorrect answer attracts a deduction of 0.25 marks in Paper-I and 0.50 marks in Paper-II. Both papers are objective-type, with the first 3 subjects available in Hindi and English.
Qualifying Marks: The minimum is 30% for UR, 25% for OBC/EWS, and 20% for other categories in each paper, excluding NCC bonus marks. These minimum marks do not guarantee shortlisting.
NCC Bonus: Eligible NCC A, B and C certificate holders receive 2%, 3% and 5% of the maximum marks respectively in each paper. The certificate must be held by 30 September 2026 and claimed in the application.
Exam Centres in Assam: Dibrugarh (5102), Guwahati/Dispur (5105), Jorhat (5107) and Silchar (5111) are listed as tentative centres. The computer-based examination date will be notified later.
Physical Standards and Endurance Test
General Standards: The minimum height is 170 cm for men and 157 cm for women. Male chest measurements are 80 cm unexpanded and 85 cm expanded for Delhi Police SI and CAPF SI (GD), or 81 cm and 86 cm for CISF SI (Fire). Women have no chest measurement requirement. Weight must correspond to height.
North-Eastern Candidates: Candidates belonging to North-Eastern States, including Assam, have a relaxed height requirement of 165 cm for men and 155 cm for women. The applicable male chest measurements remain unchanged unless the ST concession applies. SI (Fire) is open only to men.
ST Candidates: Male ST candidates require 162.5 cm height and 77/82 cm chest measurements for Delhi Police SI and CISF SI (Fire). For CAPF SI (GD), male ST candidates from North-Eastern States require 157 cm height, while other male ST candidates require 162.5 cm; chest measurements are 77/82 cm. Female ST candidates require 154 cm height.
Other Relaxations: Male Gorkha candidates have a 157 cm height requirement for CAPF SI (GD), with 80/85 cm chest measurements. Other notified hill-area and community concessions are detailed in the notification. Candidates claiming height or chest relaxation must produce the prescribed Annexure-VIII certificate from the competent authority.
Male PET: 100 metres in 16 seconds, 1.6 km in 6 minutes 30 seconds, long jump of 3.65 metres, high jump of 1.2 metres and 16-lb shot put of 4.5 metres. There are 3 chances each for the jumps and shot put.
Female PET: 100 metres in 18 seconds, 800 metres in 4 minutes, long jump of 2.7 metres and high jump of 0.9 metres. There are 3 chances for each jump.
Medical Standards: Candidates must meet the eyesight and other medical requirements in the notification. These include uncorrected distant vision of 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye, and near vision of N6 and N9 respectively.

Candidates must apply through the SSC website or the mySSC mobile application. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC website if you have not already done so. Registration created on the old SSC website will not work.
