Appointment Area: Each vacancy is attached to a specified village or group of villages and a Gaon Pradhan lot. Applicants must apply for the area in which they are permanent residents.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed HSLC or an equivalent examination from an institution or board recognized by the Government of Assam.

Other Eligibility Conditions
Citizenship and Residence: The applicant must be an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of the village or villages covered by the Gaon Pradhan lot concerned.
Children: The applicant must not have more than two living children. This restriction does not apply where the applicant already had more than two children before the relevant government notification dated 19 July 2019. An affidavit must be submitted.
Health: The applicant must be physically fit and of sound mind.
Financial Status: The applicant must not be insolvent or a defaulter of government dues.
Employment: A serving government employee is not eligible to apply.
Property: The applicant must have land or other immovable property in their own name within the area for which appointment is sought.
Political Affiliation: The applicant must not be a member of any political party.
Public Duties: The applicant must be willing to assist in implementing government policies and programmes and to cooperate during natural disasters.
Character: The applicant should be capable, respectable and held in good standing in society, with no court case or litigation pending in their name.
