HSLC Compartmental Routine 2026
The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), Division-I, Guwahati has released the official routine for the HSLC Compartmental Examination, 2026. The exams will be held from 29 May 2026 to 5 June 2026 across designated centres in Assam. This examination gives a second chance to Class X students who could not clear one or more subjects in the main HSLC Examination held earlier this year. The Controller of Examinations, Nayan Jyoti Sarmah, signed the official programme on 5 May 2026.

The full programme covers all major and elective subjects spread across seven examination days. The morning sitting runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon and the afternoon sitting from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. The table below shows the date-wise paper list.

Note: The English (IL) paper on 29 May 2026 is of 2 hours duration (9:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the morning and 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM in the afternoon). All other papers are of 3 hours duration.
Reporting Time and Extra Reading Time
Candidates must reach the examination centre well before the start of the paper. For the morning shift, the reporting time is 8:15 AM, and for the afternoon shift it is 12:45 PM. The Officer-in-Charge will distribute question papers in advance so that candidates get 15 minutes of extra reading time before each paper begins.
This extra time is allowed from 8:45 AM to 9:00 AM in the morning shift and from 1:15 PM to 1:30 PM in the afternoon shift. It is meant only for reading the question paper. Candidates are not allowed to write on the answer script during this period.
Important Instructions for Candidates
For elective languages (Time: 3 hours), there will be a common question paper containing both Group A and Group B for each language: Assamese (E), Bengali (E), Hindi (E) and Bodo (E). Group A of these papers is treated as the Indian Language (IL) paper.
For English, General Mathematics, General Science and Social Science, candidates have to answer both the Objective and Descriptive parts. Passing in both parts independently is mandatory. Candidates who fail to clear either part will not be declared passed in that subject.
Note: Late entry into the examination hall is not allowed once the paper begins. Candidates must carry a valid admit card and an original photo identity document on every exam day.
