State Bank of India has released two advertisements for the recruitment of Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) in its clerical cadre. The regular recruitment notice has 9,124 vacancies, comprising 7,680 regular vacancies and 1,444 backlog vacancies, while the separate special recruitment drive has an additional 1,538 SC, ST, and OBC backlog vacancies. Together, the two notices cover 10,662 vacancies.
Online applications for the special backlog drive are open from 7 August 2026 to 27 August 2026. The regular recruitment application is open from 11 August 2026 to 31 August 2026. Educational Qualification
Candidates must have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government. Candidates with an integrated dual degree must complete it on or before 31 December 2026.
Final-year or final-semester students may apply provisionally, but they must produce proof of passing the graduation examination on or before 31 December 2026 if provisionally selected. Matriculate Ex-servicemen with the prescribed Armed Forces education certificate and at least 15 years of service are also eligible, provided the certificate is dated on or before 31 December 2026.

The Assam figure of 207 under the regular notice includes 110 regular vacancies and 97 backlog vacancies. The 110 regular vacancies comprise 7 SC, 13 ST, 29 OBC, 11 EWS and 50 General posts. The 39 vacancies under the special drive are reserved for ST candidates.
Note: A candidate can apply for vacancies in only one State/UT under each recruitment project. Under the regular recruitment, inter-circle or inter-state transfer is not available before completion of 5 years of service, and requests after 5 years may be considered only in exceptional cases under the Bank’s policy. The special backlog drive does not provide inter-circle or inter-state transfer, apart from the stated intra-state arrangements in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Age Limit
Candidates must be at least 20 years and not more than 28 years of age as on 1 April 2026. They must have been born not earlier than 2 April 1998 and not later than 1 April 2006, with both dates included.

The PwBD (GEN/EWS) relaxation applies to the regular recruitment notice. Ex-servicemen and disabled ex-servicemen receive relaxation equal to the actual period of defence service plus 3 years, or 8 years for disabled ex-servicemen belonging to SC/ST, subject to a maximum age of 50 years.
Widows, divorced women and women judicially separated from their husbands who have not remarried receive 7 years of relaxation, subject to maximum ages of 35 years for General/EWS, 38 years for OBC and 40 years for SC/ST candidates. The General/EWS limit applies only to the regular recruitment.
Eligible trained apprentices of SBI receive relaxation of 1 year for General/EWS, 4 years for OBC, 6 years for SC/ST, 11 years for PwBD (General/EWS), 14 years for PwBD (OBC) and 16 years for PwBD (SC/ST). General/EWS and PwBD (General/EWS) apprentice relaxations apply only under the regular advertisement.

Selection Process
Selection under both advertisements consists of an online Preliminary Examination, an online Main Examination and, where required, a Local Language Proficiency Test. Objective tests carry a penalty of 0.25 mark for every wrong answer.

The final merit list is prepared State-wise and category-wise on the aggregate marks obtained in the Main Examination. Eligible trained apprentices of SBI receive 5 bonus marks, equal to 2.5% of the maximum Main Examination marks, after meeting the conditions stated in the respective notice.
Local Language Proficiency Test
Provisionally selected candidates who did not study the selected local language in Class 10 or Class 12 must qualify the Local Language Proficiency Test before joining. Candidates who produce a Class 10 or Class 12 marksheet or certificate showing that they studied the selected language are exempt from this test.
