The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, have announced a significant recruitment drive through the Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 05/2025. This notification invites online applications from eligible candidates for the posts of Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS), and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA). A total of 2569 vacancies are available across various RRBs in India.
Interested and eligible candidates can submit their applications through the official RRB websites starting from 31 October 2025. The last date for the submission of online applications is 30 November 2025.

Post-wise Educational Qualification
Junior Engineer (JE): Three years Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, etc.) OR B.Sc in Civil Engineering of three years duration OR a combination of any sub-stream of basic streams of the relevant discipline from a recognized University/Institute. Higher qualifications like B.E./B.Tech in the same discipline are also acceptable.
Depot Material Superintendent (DMS): Three Years Diploma in Engineering in any discipline from a recognized University/Institution.
Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA): B.Sc degree in Physics and Chemistry with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized University/Institute.

RRB Ahmedabad has notified 151 vacancies for Western Railway zone. RRB Ajmer has 40 vacancies for North Western Railway zone. RRB Bengaluru has announced 80 vacancies for South Western Railway and Rail Wheel Factory. RRB Bhopal has 58 vacancies for Western and West Central Railway zones. RRB Bhubaneswar has 36 vacancies for East Coast Railway.
RRB Bilaspur has notified 127 vacancies for Central and South East Central Railway zones. RRB Chandigarh has 108 vacancies for Northern Railway zone. RRB Chennai has the highest number with 160 vacancies for Southern Railway and Integral Coach Factory. RRB Gorakhpur has 98 vacancies for North Eastern Railway, Modern Coach Factory and Research Design and Standards Organization. RRB Guwahati has 7 vacancies for Northeast Frontier Railway. RRB Jammu-Srinagar has 88 vacancies for Northern Railway, Rail Coach Factory and Diesel Locomotive Works.
RRB Kolkata has announced 628 vacancies, the maximum among all boards, for Eastern, South Eastern, Metro Railway and Chittaranjan Locomotive Works. RRB Malda has 45 vacancies for Eastern and South Eastern Railway. RRB Mumbai has 434 vacancies for Central, Western and South Central Railway zones. RRB Muzaffarpur has 23 vacancies for East Central Railway. RRB Patna has 50 vacancies for East Central Railway. RRB Prayagraj has 162 vacancies for Northern, North Central Railway and Banaras Locomotive Works. RRB Ranchi has 109 vacancies for East Central and South Eastern Railway. RRB Secunderabad has 103 vacancies for South Central and East Coast Railway. RRB Thiruvananthapuram has 62 vacancies for Southern Railway.
RRB JE Selection Process
The selection process for Railway Recruitment Board CEN 05/2025 comprises multiple stages designed to assess the technical competence and suitability of candidates. The first stage is Computer Based Test One, which is of screening nature with 100 objective type questions covering Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, and General Science. The test duration is 90 minutes, extended to 120 minutes for candidates using scribe facility. Candidates scoring minimum qualifying marks will be shortlisted for the second stage at the rate of 15 times the community-wise total vacancy.
The second stage Computer Based Test comprises 150 questions covering General Awareness, Physics and Chemistry, Basics of Computers and Applications, Basics of Environment and Pollution Control, and Technical Abilities specific to the chosen exam group. The test duration is 120 minutes, extended to 160 minutes for candidates eligible for scribe assistance. There will be negative marking at the rate of one-third mark for every wrong answer in both stages of Computer Based Tests. Candidates must secure minimum qualifying percentage marks as per their category to be eligible for further stages.
Candidates qualifying in the second stage Computer Based Test will be called for Document Verification at the rate of one is to one of the vacancies for the respective Railway Recruitment Board. During Document Verification, candidates must produce all original certificates including educational qualifications, age proof, caste certificate (if applicable), and other relevant documents. After successful Document Verification, candidates will undergo Medical Examination conducted by Railway Medical Authorities to ensure they meet the prescribed medical standards for the posts. The final selection will be based on merit in the second stage Computer Based Test, successful Document Verification, and fitness in Medical Examination.

It is crucial to use a valid and active mobile number and email ID for registration, as all communication will be sent to these contacts.
After creating an account, candidates must log in and fill out the online application form with accurate personal, educational, and other required details. During the application process, a live photograph of the candidate will be captured via webcam or the front camera of a mobile phone. Candidates must not wear caps, masks, or glasses during the photo capture. Additionally, a scanned image of the candidate’s signature (in running handwriting, on white paper with black ink, size 30-49 KB) must be uploaded.
Finally, candidates must pay the prescribed application fee through the online payment gateway. After successful payment, the application process will be complete.
