RRB NTPC Recruitment 2026
The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released the detailed notification for the graduate category and an indicative notice for the undergraduate category under the Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC), with a total of 5,236 tentative vacancies. The vacancies were announced through two separate notifications: CEN 06/2026 for graduate candidates (3,548 posts) and CEN 07/2026 for undergraduate candidates (1,688 posts). The online application process for the graduate category begins on 8 October 2026, and for the undergraduate category it is expected to begin on 15 October 2026.

For the undergraduate category, only the indicative notice is available at present. Educational Qualification
Graduate Level: Candidates must hold a degree from a recognized university or its equivalent on or before the last date of application. Candidates awaiting the final result of their qualifying examination are not eligible.
Undergraduate Level: In the 2025 recruitment, candidates needed to have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination.
Note: The undergraduate qualification, age range, and relaxations above are from the 2025 notification. Candidates must check the detailed CEN 07/2026 for the requirements applicable to those posts.
Age Limit
Graduate Level: The age limit is 18 to 33 years, which means UR and EWS candidates must be born between 2 January 1994 and 1 January 2009.
Graduate Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) get 10 years (UR/EWS), 13 years (OBC-NCL) and 15 years (SC/ST). Ex-servicemen get 3, 6 and 8 years respectively after deduction of their length of service. Other categories have separate provisions given in the notification.
Undergraduate Level: In the 2025 recruitment, the age limit was 18 to 30 years. The 2025 notification allowed 3 years of relaxation for OBC-NCL candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
Application Fee
Graduate (CEN 06/2026): The fee is ₹500 for most candidates and ₹250 for SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, female, transgender, minority, and Economically Backward Class (EBC) candidates. EBC is different from OBC and EWS. Candidates who appear in the 1st Stage CBT will get a refund of ₹400 from the ₹500 fee or the full ₹250 concession fee, after deduction of applicable bank charges.
Undergraduate (CEN 07/2026): The indicative notice does not mention the application fee. In the 2025 recruitment, the fee and refund rules were the same as above. The detailed CEN 07/2026 will confirm them for this recruitment.
Selection Process (Graduate)
1st Stage CBT: 100 questions in 90 minutes (General Awareness 40, Mathematics 30, General Intelligence and Reasoning 30). This stage is for screening, and candidates are shortlisted for the 2nd Stage CBT at 15 times the community-wise vacancies.
2nd Stage CBT: 120 questions in 90 minutes (General Awareness 50, Mathematics 35, General Intelligence and Reasoning 35). Candidates are then called for Document Verification and Medical Examination in the ratio of 1:1 against the vacancies.
Negative Marking: 1/3 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. The minimum qualifying marks are 40% for UR/EWS, 30% for OBC-NCL and SC, and 25% for ST. The typing skill test has been dispensed with for the posts of Senior Clerk and Junior Accounts Assistant.

Aadhaar verification: Candidates are advised to verify their primary details through Aadhaar before submitting the application. The name and date of birth mentioned in Aadhaar should match the details given in the pass certificate of Class X. Candidates should also ensure that their Aadhaar photograph and biometric details are up to date.
