National Insurance Recruitment 2026
National Insurance Company Limited (NICL), a Government of India undertaking and a leading public sector general insurance company, has invited online applications for the recruitment of 500 Assistants in the Class III cadre. The vacancies are distributed state and union territory wise, and a candidate can apply for one state or union territory only. Online registration is open from 18 July 2026 to 7 August 2026.
For Assam, 18 Assistant posts have been notified, and applicants against the Assam vacancies must be proficient in Assamese, since a Regional Language Test is held before final selection. Age Limit
You must be a minimum of 21 years and a maximum of 30 years of age as on 1 July 2026. This means only candidates born between 2 July 1996 and 1 July 2005 (both dates inclusive) are eligible. Upper age relaxation for reserved categories is given below.

Ex-Servicemen get relaxation equal to their actual period of service plus 3 years (8 years for Disabled Ex-Servicemen belonging to SC/ST), subject to a maximum age of 50 years. The fee of ₹850 includes intimation charges, and any bank transaction charges have to be borne by the candidate. The fee once paid is neither refunded nor adjusted against any future recruitment.
Selection Process
The selection is based on an online Preliminary Examination, an online Main Examination, and a qualifying Regional Language Test. The final merit list is drawn state wise and category wise on the basis of the Main Examination scores.
Preliminary Examination (Phase I)
The Preliminary Examination is an online objective test of 100 marks and 60 minutes, split into three separately timed sections. Candidates must clear each section, and about 15 times the number of vacancies are shortlisted for the Main Examination.

Main Examination (Phase II)
Candidates who clear the Preliminary Examination are shortlisted for the Main Examination, an online objective test of 200 marks and 120 minutes across five separately timed sections. All questions except the English section are available in English and Hindi.

Note: There is a penalty for wrong answers in both the Preliminary and Main Examinations. One fourth (0.25) of the marks assigned to a question are deducted for every wrong answer, while unattempted questions carry no penalty.
Regional Language Test
Candidates shortlisted from the Main Examination are called for a Regional Language Test in the language of the state or union territory they applied for. This test is only qualifying in nature and carries no marks. The final ranking is based on the Main Examination scores, subject to qualifying this test, and appointment is also subject to medical fitness.
