Other Eligibility Conditions
Residence: The candidate must be a citizen of India and a permanent resident of the area in respect of which he or she seeks appointment.
Property: The candidate must have land or immovable property recorded in his or her own name in the village for which the application is made.
Health: The candidate should be physically fit and of sound mind.
Government Dues: The candidate must not have been declared an insolvent or a defaulter in payment of Government dues, and has to furnish a Bakijai Clearance Certificate as proof.
Service and Politics: The candidate should not be a government employee and should not be a member of any political party.
Standing in Society: The candidate should be a person of high status and command who holds a respectable position in the society.
Small Family Norms: The candidate should not have more than two living children from a single or from multiple partners, in line with the Government of Assam notification dated 19 July 2019 vide No. RLR.187/2007/Pt/24, and must furnish a self-affidavit to that effect.
Selection Process
Selection is made through a Viva Voce interview alone, and there is no written examination for this post. Among the eligible candidates for a village, the one who scores the highest marks in the Viva Voce will be selected as the Gaon Pradhan of that village. The advertisement also states that preference shall be given to the family members of a Gaon Pradhan and that the views of the Mouzadar concerned will be taken into consideration.
The date and venue of the Viva Voce will be notified later through the Circle offices, the Mouzadar offices and the official website of the District Commissioner, Kamrup. You must carry all your testimonials in original along with photocopies on the day of the interview, and no request for appearing on another day will be accepted if you miss the scheduled date. Every appointment will be made only after the police verification report is received, and the decision of the District Commissioner on eligibility for the interview is final.
