Indian Navy SSR Recruitment 2026
The Indian Navy has published an official notification for the recruitment of Agniveer SSR (Senior Secondary Recruits) under Batch 01/2027 and 02/2027. Unmarried male and female candidates who have passed 10+2 with Maths and Physics are eligible to apply for this recruitment. The online application window will remain open from 14 March to 6 April 2026 on the official website joinindiannavy.gov.in.
Selection will be conducted through a three-stage process: INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test), followed by a Physical Fitness Test and a written exam, and finally a medical examination at INS Chilka. Both batches share the same INET exam scheduled for May 2026, but Stage II will be conducted separately for each batch.
Indian Navy SSR Recruitment Details

Educational Qualification
Candidates must meet any one of the following educational qualifications with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate:
(a) Passed 10+2 with Mathematics and Physics from a Board of School Education recognized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
(b) Passed a three-year Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automobiles, Computer Science, Instrumentation Technology, or Information Technology) from a recognized Polytechnic Institute.
(c) Passed a two-year Vocational Course with non-vocational subjects Physics and Mathematics from a recognized Education Board.
Note: Candidates appearing for the Class 12 Board Exam in 2025-26 can also apply, provided they produce the original marksheet at subsequent stages of recruitment. Internet copies of marksheets will not be accepted.
Age Limit
Agniveer 01/2027 Batch: Born between 1 December 2004 and 31 May 2009 (both dates inclusive).
Agniveer 02/2027 Batch: Born between 1 May 2005 and 31 October 2009 (both dates inclusive).
Candidates born between 1 December 2004 and 31 October 2009 are eligible to apply for INET 2026. Stage-II eligibility will be determined separately based on the age criteria for each batch. You can use our Age Calculator to check your eligibility.
Marital Status
Only unmarried Indian male and female candidates are eligible. Candidates will need to submit a certificate of being unmarried at the time of enrolment. Marriage is not permitted during the entire four-year tenure. If a candidate is found to be married during the tenure or was already married at enrolment, they will be dismissed from service.
Examination Fee
An examination fee of ₹550/- plus 18% GST is to be paid online during the Stage-I INET application. Payment can be made through net banking or using Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card/UPI. The admit card will only be issued to candidates who have successfully paid the fee.
Note: The fee is non-refundable and cannot be held in reserve for any other exam. If money is deducted without an admit card generation, wait 7 working days for an automatic refund. There is no separate fee for Stage-II.
Selection Process of Indian Navy SSR
Candidates will go through a three-stage selection process. Here is what each stage involves.
Stage-I: INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test)
The INET is a computer-based examination scheduled for May 2026. Based on the marks scored in this test, candidates will be shortlisted for Stage-II separately for the 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches. Shortlisting will be done state-wise, so the cut-off marks may differ from state to state.

Note: Candidates must pass in all four sections as well as in aggregate. The Indian Navy will decide the pass marks for each section and the overall aggregate.
NCC ‘C’ Certificate Holders and Sponsor Candidates: These candidates are exempted from the INET exam. They need to upload their original certificates during the Stage-I application process, and after verification, they will directly receive call-up letters for Stage-II.
Stage-II: PFT, Written Exam, and Recruitment Medical
Candidates shortlisted from INET will receive call-up letters for Stage-II, which includes a Physical Fitness Test (PFT), a written examination, and a recruitment medical examination. All three will be conducted at designated Indian Navy centres. Aadhaar Card is mandatory for Stage-II.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Qualifying the PFT is compulsory. Candidates who fail the PFT will not move forward in the selection process. The PFT standards are as follows:

Stage-II Written Exam: The written exam follows the same format as INET — 100 MCQs of 1 mark each, bilingual (Hindi and English), covering English, Science, Mathematics, and General Awareness. The exam duration is one hour and the standard is 10+2 level. Candidates must pass in all sections and in aggregate.
Recruitment Medical Examination: Only candidates who pass the PFT will undergo the medical exam. Those found medically unfit can appeal at the designated military hospital within 5 days. Medical certificates from hospitals other than the designated military hospitals will not be accepted.
The merit list will be prepared based on Stage-II written exam marks (subject to PFT and medical qualification). Merit will be state-wise, and cut-off marks for the call-up to INS Chilka may vary from state to state.
Stage-III: Pre-Enrolment Medical at INS Chilka
All selected candidates will undergo pre-enrolment medical formalities at INS Chilka, Odisha. Candidates who do not qualify the pre-enrolment medical will be rejected. Training for Batch 01/2027 is expected to start in December 2026 and for Batch 02/2027 in May 2027.
Medical and Physical Standards
Minimum Height: 157 cm for both male and female candidates. Height relaxation details are available on the official website.
Visual Standards: Uncorrected vision should be 6/12 in both eyes, correctable to 6/6. Candidates must pass the colour perception test.
Tattoos: Permanent tattoos are only allowed on the inner face of forearms (from inside of elbow to the wrist) and on the back (dorsal) side of the hand. Tattoos on any other body part will lead to disqualification.
Seva Nidhi and Other Benefits
On completing the four-year engagement, Agniveers will receive a one-time Seva Nidhi package. Each month, 30% of the salary goes into the Agniveer Corpus Fund, and the Government of India contributes an equal amount. The total corpus fund at the end of four years comes to approximately ₹10.04 Lakh (₹5.02 Lakh from the Agniveer’s contribution + ₹5.02 Lakh from the Government).
Other benefits during service include a non-contributory life insurance cover of ₹48 Lakh, death compensation of ₹44 Lakh (in addition to insurance), disability compensation of up to ₹44 Lakh based on the percentage of disability, medical facilities at service hospitals, and CSD provisions. Agniveers get 30 days of leave per year, plus sick leave as advised by medical authorities.
Note: There is no entitlement to gratuity or pension. Agniveers are also not eligible for ex-servicemen status. Up to 25% of each batch may be offered permanent enrolment in the Indian Navy after completing the four-year period, based on performance and service requirements.

Candidates can apply online through the official Indian Navy recruitment portal between 14 March (00:01 hrs) and 6 April 2026 (17:00 hrs).
