Indian Coast Guard Recruitment 2026
The Indian Coast Guard has invited online applications for 365 vacancies for the posts of Navik (General Duty), Navik (Domestic Branch), Yantrik and Hygienist-I under the Coast Guard Enrolled Personnel Test (CGEPT) for the 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches. The online application process is being conducted through the Staff Selection Commission from 6 October to 21 October 2026. Both male and female Indian citizens are eligible to apply for Navik (General Duty), while the remaining posts are open only to male candidates.
The recruitment will be carried out batch-wise. Yantrik vacancies are available only for the 01/2027 batch, whereas Navik (Domestic Branch) and Hygienist-I vacancies are available only for the 02/2027 batch. Candidates selected for Navik (General Duty) may be allotted either the 01/2027 or 02/2027 batch based on merit, available vacancies and administrative requirements. Candidates will not be entitled to claim allotment to a particular batch.

Zone-wise Recruitment for Navik (GD) Male
Vacancies for Navik (GD) male candidates are divided across five zones, and a separate merit list is prepared for each zone. A valid Domicile Certificate must be uploaded to determine your zone. Recruitment for Navik (GD) female, Yantrik, Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I is on an all-India basis.

Educational Qualification
Navik (General Duty): Class 12 passed with Mathematics and Physics from an education board recognized by the Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE).
Navik (Domestic Branch): Class 10 passed from an education board recognized by COBSE.
Hygienist-I: Matriculation or Industrial Training Institute (ITI) certificate, or an equivalent qualification from a Board of Education recognized by the Central or State Government.
Yantrik: Class 10 passed from a COBSE recognized board and a 3 or 4 year Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics or Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
Yantrik (Alternative): Class 10 and Class 12 passed from a COBSE recognized board and a 2 or 3 year Diploma in the same branches approved by AICTE.
Note: Enter the marks of all subjects exactly as shown in your marksheet. Incorrect or incomplete marks lead to cancellation of candidature. Candidates from Open Schools not recognized by AICTE or COBSE are not eligible.
Age Limit
The age limit for each post is determined on the basis of the candidate’s date of birth. Candidates can verify their eligibility using the Age Calculator before submitting the application.
For the post of Navik (GD), candidates must have been born between 1 November 2005 and 1 May 2009. For Yantrik, the required date of birth is between 1 May 2005 and 1 May 2009. Candidates applying for Navik (DB) must have been born between 1 November 2005 and 1 October 2009, while candidates for Hygienist-I must have been born between 1 November 2002 and 1 October 2009.
Age relaxation applies to reserved category candidates as per the prescribed rules. OBC candidates are eligible for a relaxation of 3 years, while SC/ST candidates are eligible for a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit.
Application Fee
Candidates belonging to the General, EWS and OBC categories are required to pay an application fee of ₹550. Candidates belonging to the SC and ST categories are exempted from paying the application fee.
The fee can be paid online through Net Banking, Visa/Master/Maestro Debit Card or UPI. Once paid, the application fee will not be refunded. The E-admit card will be issued only to candidates who have successfully paid the prescribed fee or are exempted from payment.
Physical and Medical Standards
Height: Minimum 157 cm for male and 152 cm for female candidates. Candidates with domicile of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Garhwal, Kumaon and Sikkim get a relaxation of up to 5 cm, and the same applies to Gorkhas. Assam candidates must submit the Domicile Certificate to the medical officer to claim it.
Chest: Minimum 77 cm for male candidates with at least 5 cm expansion. Female candidates need a well proportioned chest with minimum 5 cm expansion.
Eyesight: 6/6 (better eye) and 6/9 (worse eye) for the General Duty branch. Candidates using glasses are not eligible for Navik (GD).
Tattoos: Permanent tattoos are not allowed, except on the inner forearm and the back of the hand. Concessions apply to notified tribal communities.
Selection Process
The selection process consists of four stages, and candidates must also satisfy the prescribed medical standards. Qualifying in every stage is mandatory. The final merit list is prepared on the basis of Stage-I marks, subject to qualifying all components of Stage-II and the availability of vacancies. In case of a tie, the older candidate is given preference. If the tie still remains, the candidate securing higher marks in the Assessment Test is ranked higher.
1. Stage-I: Computer Based Examination
Stage-I consists of a Computer Based Examination (CBE) containing 100 objective-type questions, carrying 1 mark each. Candidates are given 1 hour to complete the examination. The question paper is available in both Hindi and English, and there is no negative marking. If the examination is conducted in multiple shifts, the marks are normalised.
Candidates belonging to the UR, EWS and OBC categories must secure at least 40 marks to qualify, while candidates belonging to the SC and ST categories must secure at least 35 marks.
2. Stage-II: Recruitment Centre
Candidates shortlisted on the basis of Stage-I are called to an Indian Coast Guard Recruitment Centre for Stage-II, which generally takes 1 to 2 days. The date and centre are allotted on a first come, first served basis.
Stage-II consists of four qualifying components: the Physical Fitness Test, Assessment and Adaptability Test, Document Verification and Recruitment Medical Examination. Candidates must qualify in all four components. The Physical Fitness Test is conducted continuously, and any interruption or break during the prescribed tests is treated as a failure.
Male candidates are required to complete the 1.6 km run in 6 minutes 30 seconds, along with 20 squats, 15 push-ups and 15 sit-ups. Female candidates must complete the 1.6 km run in 8 minutes, along with 15 squats, 10 push-ups and 10 sit-ups.
3. Stage-III: INS Chilka
Candidates who qualify Stage-II and are placed sufficiently high in the merit list are called to INS Chilka for Stage-III. Candidates are required to bear their own travelling expenses.
Stage-III includes Aadhaar-based identity verification, document verification, pre-enrolment medical examination, and submission of the required police verification and other prescribed forms. The police verification certificate must be obtained after the last date of submission of the application.
4. Stage-IV: Document Authentication
In Stage-IV, the original educational and other documents submitted by the candidate during Stage-III are authenticated with the concerned Boards, Universities or State Government authorities.
If any document is found to be false, forged or not genuine, the candidate may be terminated from service even after enrolment.
How to Apply for Indian Coast Guard Recruitment?
Candidates must submit their applications online only through the prescribed application portal. Applications submitted through post or any other offline mode will not be accepted.
To apply, first open the application link provided in the Important Links section and complete the registration using a valid email ID and mobile number. After registration, log in to the portal and enter your personal details, educational qualifications and marks of all subjects exactly as mentioned in the relevant marksheets.
Next, select your preferred examination city. Candidates should preferably choose the examination city nearest to their place of residence as their first preference. After that, capture the required live image and upload the photograph, signature and other supporting documents in the prescribed format.
Before final submission, carefully review all the information using the print preview option. If an application fee is applicable, complete the online payment and then submit the application form.
Note: Candidates should remember the email ID and mobile number used during registration, as these details are displayed only in encrypted form after submission. Losing access to the registered login credentials may prevent a candidate from downloading the E-admit card or checking the result. An editing window of around 2 to 3 days is generally provided after registration for correcting certain details. However, date of birth and gender cannot be changed at any stage.
Documents to Upload
Candidates are required to upload scanned copies of the prescribed documents while submitting the online application. Photocopies and self-attested photocopies are not accepted. Candidates can use the Image Resizer to resize their files according to the specifications mentioned on the application portal.
The required documents include a recent passport-size colour photograph, not older than three months from the opening date of the application, along with a scanned signature. Candidates must also upload proof of date of birth, such as the Class 10 marksheet or Birth Certificate, and a valid identity document such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Driving Licence or Passport.
A Domicile Certificate is mandatory for male candidates applying for Navik (GD). For other posts, it is required only when the candidate is claiming relaxation in the prescribed height standards. Candidates already serving in the Indian Coast Guard, either as personnel or civilians, must also upload the applicable Service Certificate or No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Candidates possessing an Aadhaar Card must upload it as the first preference for identity proof. All uploaded documents must have been issued on or before the last date of application and should remain valid up to 31 December 2027. Documents must be clear, complete and legible, and multi-page documents should be merged into a single file before uploading.
Candidates shortlisted for the subsequent stages will be required to upload their category certificate and post-specific educational marksheets and certificates before downloading the Stage-II E-admit card.
