Indian Air Force Recruitment 2026
The Indian Air Force has released the notification for Agniveervayu Intake 02/2027 under the Agnipath Scheme. Unmarried Indian male and female candidates can apply online for enrolment as Agniveervayu for a four-year engagement period. Online registration runs from 6 July 2026 to 26 July 2026, and the online examination is scheduled for 22 and 23 September 2026.

Marital Status: Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible, and they must undertake not to marry during the four years.
Age Limit: Candidates born between 1 July 2005 and 1 January 2010 (both dates inclusive) can apply. If a candidate clears all stages of selection, the upper age limit on the date of enrolment must not exceed 22 years. You can calculate your exact age here before applying.
Application Fee: The examination fee is ₹550 plus 18% GST, and it is non-refundable. Payment is made online through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI once the application is submitted.
Educational Qualification
Science Subjects: Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / equivalent with Mathematics, Physics, and English from a recognised board with at least 50% aggregate and 50% in English. A three-year Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile, Computer Science, Instrumentation Technology, or Information Technology) with 50% aggregate and 50% in English is also accepted, as is a two-year Vocational Course carrying Physics and Mathematics with the same marks.
Other than Science Subjects: Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / equivalent in any stream with at least 50% aggregate and 50% in English, or a two-year Vocational Course with 50% aggregate and 50 marks in English.
Candidates eligible for Science Subjects can appear in both papers in one sitting by choosing that option during registration. Only the aggregate percentage before the decimal is counted, so 49.99% is read as 49%, not rounded up to 50%.
Pay and Seva Nidhi Package
Agniveervayu are paid a monthly package that rises each year, with 70% given in hand and the rest going into the Agniveer Corpus Fund. Risk and Hardship allowances, Dress and Travel allowances, ration, clothing, accommodation, and Leave Travel Concession apply as per existing rules.

On completing four years, an Agniveervayu receives about ₹10.04 Lakhs as the Seva Nidhi package, which combines their own contribution with a matching government contribution. A non-contributory life insurance cover of ₹48 Lakhs applies during the engagement period. There is no gratuity or pension, and up to 25% of each batch may be enrolled into the regular cadre based on merit and organisational need.
Physical and Medical Standards
Height: Minimum 152 cms for both male and female candidates. Female candidates from the North East or hilly regions of Uttarakhand get a relaxation to 147 cms, and those from Lakshadweep to 150 cms.
Chest: Male candidates need a minimum of 77 cms with at least 5 cms expansion. Female candidates need a minimum expansion of 5 cms.
Vision: 6/12 in each eye, correctable to 6/6, with colour vision CP-II. Candidates with a history of LASIK or PRK are not accepted. Weight should be proportionate to height and age.
Selection Process for IAF Recruitment
Selection runs across three phases. The marks in Phase-I are normalised to account for different difficulty levels across sessions, and shortlisting for Phase-II is done state-wise on these normalised marks.
Phase-I: Online Test
The online test is objective type, bilingual (English and Hindi) except for the English paper, and follows the 10+2 CBSE syllabus. The duration depends on the papers chosen.

Marking gives one mark for each correct answer, no mark for an unattempted question, and a deduction of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates must qualify each paper individually.
Phase-II: PFT and Adaptability Tests
State-wise shortlisted candidates report to a designated Airmen Selection Centre (ASC) for the Physical Fitness Test. PFT-I is a 1.6 km run, which male candidates must finish within seven minutes and female candidates within eight minutes. Those who qualify go on to PFT-II, which has push-ups, sit-ups, and squats. Candidates then take Adaptability Test-I (a written test) and Adaptability Test-II.
Phase-III: Medical Examination
Candidates who clear Adaptability Test-II get a medical appointment letter. The Air Force Medical Team examines as per IAF standards, including baseline blood, urine, biochemistry, chest X-ray, and ECG investigations. Candidates declared unfit can appeal through an Appeal Medical Board within three working days by depositing ₹40 via e-MRO or MRO.
