Local Language Requirement for Assam
For Assam Gramin Bank, the prescribed local languages are Assamese, Bengali and Bodo. Local-language proficiency is an essential qualification for Office Assistant and Officer Scale I.
A candidate who studied the applicable language in Class VIII or at a higher level in a recognised school or board will be treated as proficient. A selected candidate who does not meet this condition at the time of selection may be allowed 6 months from joining to acquire proficiency, subject to the RRB’s rules.

Selection Process of IBPS RRB
The selection process differs by post. Office Assistant and Officer Scale I candidates must first qualify in the Preliminary Examination, while Officer Scale II and III candidates appear directly for a Single Online Examination.
Office Assistant Selection Process
Preliminary Examination: Candidates must obtain the required cut-off marks in both tests to be shortlisted for the Main Examination. Preliminary marks are not used for final merit.
Main Examination: Candidates must obtain the minimum score in each test and a sufficiently high total score. Provisional allotment will be based on Main Examination marks, available vacancies in the selected State or Union Territory and the applicable reservation rules.
Interview: There is no interview for the Office Assistant post.
Officer Scale I Selection Process
Preliminary Examination: Candidates must qualify in both tests to be shortlisted for the Main Examination. Preliminary marks are used only for screening.
Main Examination: Candidates must obtain the minimum score in each test and a sufficiently high total score. Subject to availability, IBPS may call candidates numbering up to three times the declared vacancies in each State for the interview.
Final Merit: Main Examination and interview marks will be combined in an 80:20 ratio for final merit and provisional allotment.
Officer Scale II and III Selection Process
Single Online Examination: These posts do not have a Preliminary Examination. Candidates must obtain the minimum score in each test and a sufficiently high total score to be considered for the interview.
Interview Shortlisting: Subject to availability, IBPS may call candidates numbering up to three times the declared vacancies.
Final Merit: Single Online Examination and interview marks will be combined in an 80:20 ratio for final merit and provisional allotment.
Interview Marks: The interview for Officer Scale I, II and III carries 100 marks. The minimum qualifying score will not be less than 40% for General and EWS candidates or 35% for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates.
Local Language: The notification does not list a separate local-language test as a selection stage. Proficiency in the prescribed local language remains an essential qualification for Office Assistant and Officer Scale I.
IBPS RRB Exam Pattern
The examination pattern depends on the post. Office Assistant and Officer Scale I have Preliminary and Main examinations, while Officer Scale II and III have a Single Level Examination followed by an interview.
Preliminary Examination
The Preliminary Examination applies to Office Assistant and Officer Scale I. Both papers contain 80 questions for 80 marks and have a total duration of 45 minutes. Office Assistant candidates take Numerical Ability, while Officer Scale I candidates take Quantitative Aptitude.

Exam Medium and Marking Rules
Assam Exam Medium: Candidates applying for Office Assistant or Officer Scale I in Assam may select English, Hindi or Assamese as the medium of tests. The separate language test in the Main Examination must be either English or Hindi.
Officer Scale II and III Medium: Except for the separate English or Hindi Language test, the notified tests are available in Hindi and English.
Negative Marking: One-fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer. No mark will be deducted for an unanswered question.
Cut-off Marks: Candidates must obtain the minimum score in each applicable test. Passing individual tests may not be sufficient, as the total score must also be high enough for shortlisting or provisional allotment.
