Once the prelims score is out, candidates can check the cut-off and shortlisted names on our IBPS PO Result page.

IBPS PO Admit Card Details

Post Name: Probationary Officer (PO) / Management Trainee (MT)

Stage: Preliminary Examination (first of three stages)

Exam Mode: Online, computer-based

Medium: English and Hindi, except the English Language section

Total Questions: 100 questions for 100 marks

Exam Centre (Assam): Dibrugarh, Guwahati, Jorhat, Silchar, and Tezpur.

Details Printed on the IBPS PO Call Letter

Every detail on the call letter must match your application form. If any of the following is printed wrongly, write to IBPS through the candidate grievance system immediately rather than carrying a corrected copy of your own to the centre.

Candidate’s name, father’s or mother’s name and date of birth
Registration number and roll number
Photograph and signature uploaded during the application
Examination date and shift timing
Reporting time and gate closing time
Name, address and code of the examination centre
Exam day instructions and the space for the invigilator’s signature

Documents Required at the Examination Centre

Candidates who reach the centre without a printed call letter and a valid original photo identity proof are not allowed to sit for the examination. Keep the following ready a day before the exam:

Printed copy of the IBPS PO Prelims call letter
Original photo identity proof: PAN card, Aadhaar card, Voter ID, Passport or Driving Licence
A photocopy of the same identity proof, to be submitted at the centre
Passport-size photograph identical to the one uploaded in the application form
Scribe declaration form, for PwBD candidates using the services of a scribe

Note: The name on the identity proof must match the name on the call letter exactly. A ration card and a learner’s driving licence are not accepted as valid identity proof. Candidates whose name has changed after marriage should carry the marriage certificate or the relevant gazette notification along with the original identity proof.

Examination Centre Instructions

Reporting time is printed on the call letter and is usually well ahead of the start of the test, because biometric verification, photograph capture and seat allotment take time at a centre handling several hundred candidates. Entry is closed at the gate closing time mentioned on the call letter, and latecomers are not admitted even by a few minutes.

Mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, books and any written material are not permitted inside the examination hall, and most centres do not have a facility to store them. Candidates cannot leave the hall before the shift ends, so plan the journey and the meal before the exam accordingly. Since the centre is allotted only through the call letter, candidates travelling to another city should locate the venue a day earlier to avoid confusion on the morning of the exam.

IBPS PO Prelims Exam Pattern 2026

The section-wise mark distribution has been revised for this cycle. Reasoning Ability now carries more weight than Quantitative Aptitude, though the total remains 100 marks. Each section has a separate 20-minute slot, and candidates cannot return to a section once its time is over.

SectionQuestionsMarksDuration
English Language303020 minutes
Quantitative Aptitude353020 minutes
Reasoning Ability354020 minutes
Total10010060 minutes

A penalty of 0.25 marks applies for every wrong answer, so blind guessing works against the score. Candidates have to clear both the sectional and the overall cut-off to be shortlisted for the Main Examination. Marks scored in the prelims are not carried forward to the final merit list.

Pre-Examination Training Call Letter

Pre-Examination Training is an optional facility offered free of cost to candidates belonging to SC, ST and Minority Communities who opted for it in the application form. It is conducted at selected centres before the preliminary examination, and a separate call letter is issued for it. Attending the training is not compulsory, and it has no effect on eligibility for the examination.
