CGST Recruitment 2025
The Office of the Principal Commissioner, Central GST, Central Excise & Customs, Guwahati Zone has announced a recruitment notification for meritorious sports persons. Applications are invited for 11 vacancies in the posts of Tax Assistant and Havaldar under the Sports Quota. Interested and eligible candidates must submit their applications in the prescribed offline format on or before 13 September 2025.

Age Limit: The candidate must be between 18 and 27 years of age as on 13 September 2025.
Age Relaxation: Relaxation up to a maximum of 5 years (10 years for SC/ST candidates) shall be allowed for meritorious sportspersons.

Pay Scale / Salary
Tax Assistant: Level-4 in the pay matrix (₹25,500 – ₹81,100).
Havaldar: Level-1 in the pay matrix (₹18,000 – ₹56,900).
Educational Qualification
Tax Assistant: Candidates must possess a Degree from a recognized University or equivalent. They should also have basic knowledge of computer applications and a data entry speed of not less than 8000 Key Depressions per hour.
Havaldar: Candidates must have passed Matriculation or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board.
Other Criteria for Havaldar Post: Candidates will be required to possess the specified physical standards and pass the physical tests.
Sports Eligibility: Meritorious sportspersons who have represented the country, state, university, or school in any of the 65 listed sports disciplines during the calendar years 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 are eligible to apply. The preference will be given in the order of international participation, followed by national (medal winners), university (medal winners), etc.
For Male Candidates
Height: 157.5 Cms (relaxable by 5 Cms for Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and members of Schedule Tribes).
Chest: 81 Cms (fully expanded with a minimum expansion of 5 Cms).
Physical Test: Walking 1600 meters in 15 minutes.
For Female Candidates
Height: 152 Cms (relaxable by 2.5 Cms for Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and members of Schedule Tribes).
Weight: 48 Kgs (relaxable by 2 Kgs for Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and members of Schedule Tribes).
Physical Test: Walking 1 km in 20 minutes.
Selection Process
The selection process will involve the following stages:
Scrutiny of Applications: Applications will be scrutinized, and suitable candidates will be shortlisted.
Field Trials: Shortlisted candidates will be called for field trials to assess their fitness and performance in the relevant sports discipline.
Skill/Physical Test: Candidates who have opted for Tax Assistant will undergo a Data Entry Speed Test. Candidates who have opted for Havaldar will undergo an examination of Physical Standards & a Physical Efficiency Test.

Candidates should fill up the application form neatly in Block Letters using a ballpoint pen, preferably in black ink. A recent passport-size photograph should be affixed to the application form.
The duly filled application form, along with attested copies of all requisite documents, should be sent in a closed cover superscribed with “Application for Sports Quota Recruitment 2025”. The documents to be enclosed include certificates for proof of age, educational qualifications, sports achievements (in prescribed formats), caste certificate (if applicable), NOC (if employed), and Aadhaar Card.
