Assam VFA Recruitment 2026
The Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Assam has published an official notification regarding the recruitment of 200 Veterinary Field Assistant (VFA) and allied cadre posts. Candidates eligible as per the official notification can apply online for the Assam VFA Recruitment from 3 September 2026 to 23 September 2026 through the official web portal.

Assam Veterinary Recruitment Details
Post Name: Veterinary Field Assistant (VFA) and its allied cadre posts

Pay Scale: Pay Band-2 of ₹14,000 to ₹70,000 with Grade Pay of ₹6,200 and other admissible allowances.
Allied Cadre: Part D of Schedule I lists Livestock Demonstrator, Stockman, Fieldman, Poultry Assistant, Hatchery Man, Fodder Demonstrator and Dairyman along with Veterinary Field Assistant. Separate vacancy numbers for these posts have not been provided.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the full-time HSSLC (Class 12) examination in the Science stream with Biology as one of the subjects from a recognized Board, Council or University.
Citizenship and Residence: Candidates must be Indian citizens as defined under Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India and permanent residents of Assam. A valid Permanent Resident Certificate issued in Assam for educational purposes must be uploaded as proof of domicile.
Employment Exchange Registration: Candidates must possess a valid Employment Exchange Registration Certificate issued by the competent authority.
Small Family Norms: Applicants must submit the prescribed declaration in Form-A regarding the Small Family Norms at the time of applying.
Caste Certificate: Candidates claiming SC, ST, OBC or MOBC reservation must upload a certificate issued by the competent authority of the Government of Assam. It must indicate the caste, the relevant Act or order recognizing it, and the candidate’s village or town of ordinary residence.
Government Employees: Candidates in regular Assam Government service, whether permanent or temporary, must upload an employment certificate issued by the competent authority. This requirement excludes casual, ad-hoc, daily wage, hourly paid and contractual employment. Applicants seeking pay protection or continuation in service must also upload a No Objection Certificate against the applied post.

PwBD Reservation: 8 posts, with 2 each for Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Locomotor Disability etc., Blindness and Low Vision, and Autism etc. Candidates must have a benchmark disability of 40% or more, certified by the competent authority.
Ex-Servicemen Reservation: 4 posts. Applicants claiming this reservation must upload the Ex-Servicemen Identity Card issued by the Zila Sainik Welfare Office of Assam and the Discharge Book.

Age Proof: Age will be calculated from the HSLC pass certificate, HSLC admit card or a certificate issued by a recognized Board or Council that clearly shows the age or date of birth.
Selection Process of Assam VFA Recruitment
1. Written Examination
The department will conduct an OMR-based written examination consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions for 100 marks. The questions will be of HSSLC Science standard, and candidates will get 120 minutes to complete the examination.

Candidates preparing for the written examination can refer to our Assam VFA Syllabus. The detailed notification does not specify negative marking.
Admit Card: Eligible candidates will have to download their admit cards after scrutiny of applications. The examination date and venue will be notified separately. Candidates must produce a valid identity document, such as Aadhaar, PAN card, driving licence, passport or voter ID, at the written test.
Document Verification: The documents uploaded with the application will be verified at later stages of recruitment. Incomplete records or false information can lead to rejection of candidature.
2. Mandatory Training and Bond
Selected candidates must undergo a 1-year training course in Elementary Knowledge of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science at the School of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Assam, Ghungoor, Silchar and its extended campuses. Passing this training is compulsory before appointment to the post with the prescribed pay scale.
Candidates who fail in a subject must attend the relevant term of training again and appear in the re-examination as prescribed. A maximum of 3 chances is allowed. A candidate who does not pass within these 3 chances will not be eligible for appointment.
Training Bond: Before joining the course, selected candidates must execute the bond prescribed in Schedule III. It includes an obligation to serve the Government of Assam for at least 3 years, if required, at any place within Assam. Breach of the specified training or service conditions can require repayment of amounts paid to or spent on the trainee, including training expenses, with interest at the applicable government rate.

Document Format: The required certificates must be uploaded in PDF format, with each file not exceeding 4 MB and remaining legible in print. Scanning at 200 dpi in greyscale is recommended.
Photograph: Upload a good-quality colour photograph with a white background in JPEG format. The notice specifies a standard print size of 4.5 cm × 3.5 cm, a maximum resolution of 150 pixels wide × 200 pixels high, and a file size of 200 KB to 500 KB.
Signature: Sign in black or dark blue ink on white paper and upload the scanned image in JPEG format. The specified dimensions are 150 pixels wide × 50 pixels high, with a file size of 30 KB to 100 KB.
