The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) was set up under the Assam State School Education Board Act, 2024, by merging two earlier bodies — the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC). Before the merger, AHSEC used to conduct the HS Final Examination. From 2025 onwards, ASSEB has taken over this work. The HS exam now comes under ASSEB Division-II, which is the former AHSEC.
