The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) was established under the Assam State School Education Board Act, 2024, through the merger of two previously separate entities – the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC). Before this merger, the Assam HS Final Examination was conducted by AHSEC. However, following the merger, ASSEB has taken over the responsibility of conducting the HS Final Examination from 2025 onwards. This structural change represents a significant development in Assam’s educational administration system, streamlining the management of both secondary and higher secondary examinations under a single governing body.
