Assam GT/PGT TET Syllabus

The Directorate of Secondary Education (DSE), Assam, is conducting the Graduate Teacher (GT) and Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) TET recruitment. This recruitment drive will fill vacant teaching posts in government and provincialized high schools and higher secondary schools across Assam.

The written test is OMR-based and carries a total of 140 marks, split across five sections: Pedagogy (50 marks), About Assam and its People (35 marks), General English (30 marks), General Mathematics (15 marks), and General Studies & Current Affairs (10 marks). 1. Pedagogy (50 Marks)

Pedagogy is the highest-scoring section in the exam. It covers teaching principles, classroom practices, and educational psychology. Here is the full topic-wise breakdown:

2. About Assam and Its People (35 Marks)

This section tests your knowledge of Assam’s history, geography, economy, and culture. It carries 35 marks and covers a wide range of topics specific to the state.

3. General Mathematics – 10th Level (15 Marks)

This section carries 15 marks and tests Class 10-level math concepts. The focus is on problem-solving ability.

The English section tests grammar and communication skills. With 30 marks, it is the second-highest scoring section after Pedagogy.

This section is worth 10 marks and covers a broad range of topics from Indian history and geography to science, sports, and recent events.

How to Prepare for GT/PGT TET Exam?

Start with Pedagogy and About Assam and its People — together they account for 85 out of 140 marks. If you score well in these two sections, you’re already in a strong position.

For Pedagogy, focus on Bloom’s Taxonomy, Thorndike’s laws, and teaching methods. These are commonly tested. For the Assam section, study the Ahom dynasty, major rivers and national parks, government schemes, and tribal festivals. Use a mix of SCERT textbooks and Assam-specific GK books.

For General English, revise tenses, active-passive voice, and direct-indirect narration thoroughly. These are the most frequently asked topics. Mathematics is Class 10 level, so the NCERT textbooks will be enough for preparation.
