The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Assam declared the Pre-Entry Test (PET) 2026 result on 27 July 2026 at 4:30 PM. Candidates who appeared in the entrance test on 12 July 2026 can now check their marks and rank for admission into the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) course for the session 2026-2028, in which 4,150 seats are on offer across the Teacher Education Institutes of the state.

Assam D.El.Ed Result Date 2026
SCERT had fixed 27 July 2026 as the date for declaration of the result in its official admission schedule, and the council kept to that date, publishing the result at 4:30 PM. The gap between the test and the result has now stayed at exactly 15 days for three cycles in a row, which is the one part of this admission calendar that has held steady.

Merit List and Cut Off Marks
The merit list is prepared district-wise from the marks scored in the Pre-Entry Test. In every district, 30% of the total seats are reserved for candidates from the Science stream, and the remaining 70% for candidates from the Arts and other streams, and two separate merit lists are drawn up for these two groups. Reservation for OBC/MOBC, SC, ST(P), ST(H), PWD, and EWS categories is applied as per the Reservation Policy of the Government of Assam. For the PWD quota, only Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired, and Orthopedically Handicapped candidates with a benchmark disability of not less than 40% are considered.
There is no single state-wide cut-off in this admission. Because the ranking is district-wise and stream-wise, a mark that secures a seat in one district may fall short in another where more candidates appeared for the same number of seats. Within the total intake of 4,150, a small number of seats is also kept aside for untrained regular LP and UP teachers appointed on compassionate grounds under the Directorate of Elementary Education, Assam, and the final reservation of seats is declared at the time of admission.
SCERT published the Round 1 cut-off mark along with the institute allotment result on 6 August 2026 at 2 PM. As with the result, there is no single cut-off; it varies by district, category, and stream, and candidates can check the mark applicable to them after logging in to the SCERT PET portal. A candidate who falls short of the cut-off of a preferred institute in Round 1 can still be allotted a seat in Round 2 or Round 3, because the cut-off comes down as candidates drop out and fresh vacancies are published before every round.
How to Check Assam D.El.Ed Result 2026?
The result is checked through the candidate login on the SCERT PET portal, using the same mobile number and date of birth that you used to download the Assam D.El.Ed Admit Card. Keep that number active, because it is used for the result login as well as for the counselling, the allotment result, and all admission alerts.

Along with the individual score card, SCERT also publishes district-wise mark list PDFs, as it did in the previous cycles. If the login page is slow because of the rush, open the PDF of the district in which you appeared and search for your roll number in it.
Assam D.El.Ed Counselling 2026
Qualifying in the PET did not by itself give a candidate a seat. Participation in the online counselling was compulsory, and the window that opened on 28 July 2026 closed on 3 August 2026 instead of 31 July 2026, because of the flood situation in several districts of Assam. A candidate who did not submit institute preferences within this window was left out of the allotment altogether, whatever the score, since there was no offline substitute for it.
The preferences of Teacher Education Institutes should be entered in the order you genuinely want them, because allotment is made strictly by merit, category, district, and the seats available in the institute you have opted for. It is safer to enter several institutes rather than one, since you are considered only for the institutes you have listed, and a single choice leaves you with no fallback if its seats are filled at a higher merit position.

Note: The window for Round 1 preferences has closed. Candidates who wish to revise their institute preferences can do so in the second phase of counselling scheduled for 20 August 2026, before Round 3.
Seat Allotment and Admission Rounds
Allotment is done in three rounds, and SCERT released the revised schedule for all three on 3 August 2026, the same day the extended counselling window closed. SCERT published the Round 1 result of institute allotment, together with the cut-off marks for each district, category, and stream, on 6 August 2026 at 2 PM. After each round, the allotted candidates have to report physically at the institute with their original documents and pay the admission fees within the dates given for that round, after which the institutes submit their admission report and the seats still lying vacant are published as a fresh vacancy list. A second phase of online counselling for candidates to revise or modify their institute preferences is held on 20 August 2026, before the third and last round, and a further round of admission may be notified after Round 3 if seats remain vacant.

Missing the physical admission window of any round releases the allotted seat to the next candidate in the merit list, so candidates should complete their travel and hostel arrangements well ahead of the reporting dates given above.
Fees Payable at the Allotted Institute
The fees below are the annual fees fixed by SCERT for government Teacher Education Institutes, and they are payable to the institute in online mode only. No cash payment is entertained.

The electricity fee is ₹600 for a day scholar and ₹900 for a hostel boarder. The admission, tuition, electricity, and internal fees are paid at the time of admission, which works out to about ₹2,700 for a day scholar, while the examination fee is paid later at the time of filling up the form for the semester-end evaluation. In a private Teacher Education Institute, the total annual fee is ₹34,000, of which ₹21,600 is tuition, so the difference between a government and a private seat is worth weighing before you lock your preferences.

Note: After admission, a candidate who stays absent from classes for 5 continuous working days from the first day of the session without informing the Principal has the admission cancelled, and the seat is filled from the waiting list.
