Assam CEE 2026 – B.Tech Entrance Examination
The Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU) has released the official notification for the Combined Entrance Examination (CEE) 2026. This is the state-level entrance exam for admission into the first semester of B.Tech programmes in engineering colleges across Assam for the academic session 2026-27. Online applications will be accepted from 16 March 2026 to 3 April 2026 through the official ASTU website at astu.ac.in.
The CEE 2026 exam is scheduled for 14 June 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Candidates who have passed or are appearing in 10+2 with the required subjects can apply for this exam. There is no upper age limit for CEE 2026. ASTU will only conduct the examination; the counselling and admission process will be handled separately by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Assam.

Eligibility Criteria for Assam CEE 2026
Candidates must meet all of the following conditions to be eligible for admission through CEE 2026:
Citizenship: The applicant must be an Indian citizen.
Domicile: The applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam with a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued by the competent authority. However, children of Central Government employees posted in Assam (for less than 20 years and not permanent residents of Assam) can apply under the CGE quota.
Educational Qualification: The candidate must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) in a single sitting without any grace marks in the mandatory subjects. Both Theory and Practical exams must be passed individually.
Minimum Marks: A minimum of 45% in the subjects taken together at 10+2 level is required (40% for candidates belonging to OBC/MOBC/ SC/ ST(P)/ ST(H) categories).
Diploma Holders: Candidates who have completed a 3-year Diploma in Engineering & Technology from the State Council for Technical Education, Assam, with 45% marks (40% for reserved categories) in the final diploma examination are also eligible.
B.Sc. Graduates: Candidates who have passed a B.Sc. Degree from a UGC-recognized university with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved categories), and who also passed 10+2 with Mathematics as a subject, are eligible to apply.
Minimum Age: The candidate must be at least 17 years old as on 31 December 2026. There is no upper age limit for CEE 2026. You can calculate your age here to check if you meet the requirement.
Character & Fitness: Candidates must possess good moral character (certificate from head of last institution attended) and must be physically and mentally fit (medical certificate from a registered medical officer required).

Assam CEE 2026 Exam Pattern
The CEE 2026 will be a 3-hour offline exam with 120 MCQs spread across three subjects. Each question carries 4 marks for a correct answer. One mark is deducted for each wrong answer. If a candidate selects more than one option for any question, it will be treated as a wrong answer. The OMR answer sheet must be filled using a BLACK BALL POINT PEN only.

The exam syllabus follows the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), Division-II (Higher Secondary Division) curriculum. The question paper is bilingual, available in both English and Assamese.
Ranking Criteria
The CEE 2026 rank will be based on total marks secured in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. If two candidates score the same total, the tiebreaker is applied in this order: highest marks in Mathematics first, then Physics, then Chemistry, then date of birth, and finally alphabetical order of name.
Application Fee
The application fee for CEE 2026 is ₹1,500, payable online through Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking. Payment must be made through the link available on the ASTU application portal only. Once paid, the fee is non-refundable.
Exam Centres (Based on Previous Year)
The CEE 2026 exam will be held at 9 centres across Assam: Bongaigaon, Dibrugarh, Guwahati, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Nalbari, Silchar, and Tezpur. Note that Diphu, which was a centre in previous years, is not listed for CEE 2026. Centre preference can be selected during application, but no change of centre will be entertained after submission and payment.
Government School Quota (5% Reservation)
5% of seats in B.Tech courses in government engineering colleges of Assam are reserved for students who studied Class VII to X in government schools under SEBA, and Class XI-XII in state government school/college/provincialized colleges under AHSEC (now ASSEB). This is available for students of all categories: ST, SC, OBC/MOBC(NCL), EWS, and General. The required certificates must be obtained from the Principal/Head Master along with the counter-signature of the concerned Inspector of Schools.

Admit Card for Assam CEE 2026
The CEE 2026 admit cards will be available for download from 26 May 2026 to 4 June 2026 on the official ASTU website. Candidates can download their admit cards by entering their application form number/username and the password created during registration. The admit card will contain details like exam centre, roll number, and candidate’s photo.
Note: The admit card only allows a candidate to appear in the examination. It does not confirm eligibility for admission. Eligibility will be verified during counselling by DTE, Assam.
How to Apply for Assam CEE 2026?
Step 1: Visit the official ASTU website at astu.ac.in and click on the CEE 2026 application link.
Step 2: Register by entering your name, email address, mobile number, and create a password. Remember this password, you will need it later to download your admit card and check results.
Step 3: Fill in all required details, personal information, academic qualifications, contact details, and exam centre preference.
Step 4: Upload your recent photograph in JPG/JPEG format (25-35 KB, 250-350 px height, 150-220 px width) and scanned signature in JPG/JPEG format (15-30 KB, 100-180 px height, 150-220 px width). You can use our Image Resizer Tool to resize your photos.
Step 5: Pay the application fee of ₹1,350 through Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking.
Step 6: Review all details carefully and submit the application form. Take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference, you will need it during counselling.
Note: No corrections can be made after submission of the application form. The candidate can edit data only until the last date of submission. No changes will be accepted through Post, Fax, Email, or in person.
What to Carry on Exam Day
On the day of the exam, candidates must carry the following: printed admit card, one valid government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Passport, Driving License, or Class 12 Board Admit/Registration Card), and a black ball point pen. Candidates must arrive at least 30 minutes before the exam starts. Entry will not be allowed after 11:00 AM.
Calculators, mobile phones, smartwatches, and any printed or written material are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall. Any candidate found with such items will be disqualified.
After the Exam
The provisional answer key will be uploaded on the ASTU website after 6:00 PM on the day of the examination. Candidates can challenge the answer key within 48 hours of the link going live, by paying ₹500 per question challenged. If a challenge is accepted, the fee will be refunded. Results and rank cards will also be published on the ASTU website. The counselling will be conducted separately by DTE, Assam.
