ADRE Question Papers
The Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) is the centralised process through which the Government of Assam fills Grade-III and Grade-IV vacancies of all departments together, instead of running a separate examination for every department. Two editions have been completed so far. The first was held in 2022, and the second, ADRE 2.0, was conducted in 2024 for 12,673 vacancies, with appointment letters distributed on 9 and 10 January 2026.
With the third edition awaited, these two sets of papers are the most dependable preparation material a candidate has. They show the exact standard the State Level Recruitment Commission sets for each qualification level, how marks are divided between subjects, and how questions on Assam history, geography and current affairs are framed. On this page we have compiled every ADRE question paper of 2022 and 2024 in PDF, along with the official answer keys of the 2024 papers.
Candidates should read the ADRE Syllabus alongside these papers, because the subject-wise weightage explains why certain topics keep repeating from one edition to the next.
For vacancies, eligibility, expected dates and the application process of the next edition, we maintain a separate page on ADRE 3.0 Recruitment.

ADRE Answer Keys 2024
ASSEB published the official answer keys of all five papers of the 2024 examination within a few days of each exam. Score your attempt against these keys rather than against a coaching key, since the final result was prepared on the basis of the official one.

Exam Pattern Followed in the ADRE Papers
Before you attempt a paper, set the clock to the duration allowed for it. The pattern below is the one notified by the SLRC for the 2024 examination, and the papers uploaded on this page follow it.
| Paper | Level | MCQ | Marks | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paper-I | HSLC | 135 | 135 | 2 hrs 30 min |
| Paper-II | Class VIII | 135 | 135 | 2 hrs 30 min |
| Paper-III | HSSLC | 150 | 150 | 3 hrs |
| Paper-IV | Degree | 150 | 175 | 3 hrs |
| Paper-V | Driver | 150 | 150 | 3 hrs |
Negative Marking: 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer to a 1-mark question. In Paper-IV, the 25 Reading Comprehension questions carry 2 marks each, and a wrong answer there costs 0.50 marks. This is why Paper-IV has 150 questions but 175 marks.
How to Download the ADRE Question Papers?
| Identify the paper code that applies to your post from the paper codes given above. |
| Go to the year-wise table on this page and find the row for your grade and paper. |
| Click the Download link in that row to open the PDF in a new tab. |
| Save the file to your device, or take a printout so that you can attempt it on paper as in the real OMR examination. |
| Open the matching key from the answer key table once you have finished, and score your attempt. |
How to Practice with the Previous Year Papers
Downloading the papers is the easy part. What separates a selected candidate from the rest is the way these papers are used.
| Attempt the full paper in a single sitting with a timer set to the actual duration of your paper. |
| Mark your answers on a separate sheet instead of ticking on the question paper, so that you can reattempt the paper later. |
| Apply the negative marking while scoring; otherwise, your practice score will look better than the real one. |
| Sort every wrong answer subject-wise, and revise the subject in which you lose the most marks before you take up the next paper. |
Once you have attempted the 2022 papers, move to the 2024 papers, since they reflect the standard the commission settled on in the second edition. Questions on Assam history, geography and state schemes appear in both editions, and comparing the two shows which of these areas the commission returns to.

FAQs of ADRE Question Papers
How many ADRE question papers are available for download?
Question papers of two editions are available: 2022 and 2024. Each edition has five papers, Paper-I to Paper-V, covering both Grade-III and Grade-IV posts.
Which ADRE paper should I practice?
It depends on the post you apply for. Grade-IV candidates practice Paper-I (HSLC) or Paper-II (Class VIII), and Grade-III candidates practice Paper-III (HSSLC), Paper-IV (Bachelor’s Degree) or Paper-V (Driver).
Are the official ADRE answer keys available?
Yes. The official answer keys of all five papers of the 2024 examination, published by ASSEB, can be downloaded from the answer key table on this page.
Why is only one set of each question paper uploaded?
All sets of a paper carry the same questions, and only the order of the questions differs. Practising one set covers the entire paper.
Is there negative marking in the ADRE examination?
Yes. A wrong answer to a 1-mark question costs 0.25 marks. In Paper-IV, the Reading Comprehension questions carry 2 marks each and a wrong answer there costs 0.50 marks.
Will the next ADRE exam follow the same question paper pattern?
The official syllabus of ADRE 3.0 has not been published yet. There are reports of a two-phase examination, but nothing has been confirmed by the SLRC, so candidates should prepare on the existing MCQ pattern.
