State Eligibility Test 2025
State Level Eligibility Test Commission, Assam (NE Region) has released an official notification regarding the State Eligibility Test (SET) 2025. As per the official notification, SET 2025 will be conducted by the SLET (NE Region) Commission on 23rd March 2025. The main objective behind this exam is to select eligible candidates to be appointed as Assistant Professors in the same league as the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

How to Apply for the SLET Exam?
Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria as outlined in the official notification of the State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) Commission, Assam (NE Region) can submit their applications through the official web portal starting from 1st December 2024.
To participate in the State Eligibility Test (SET), all applicants must complete the registration process on the official portal before proceeding with their online application. For convenience, a direct link to the online application portal is provided in the “Important Links” section of this article.

Negative Marking: There will be no negative marking.
Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for eligibility for applying for Assistant Professors. Candidates who qualify in the Test are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor within the jurisdiction of the Member-States of this SLET Commission. They will be issued a Pass certificate and the validity period of the certificate is forever.
Educational Qualification
In the case of General/Unreserved/General-EWS, candidates who have obtained at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in a Master’s degree or equivalent examination from Universities/ Institutes recognized by UGC are eligible for this examination. However, candidates from SC/ ST/ PWD/ OBC-NCL who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in a Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible to appear in the test.
Appearing Candidates: Candidates who have appeared or will appear in the final qualifying Master’s Degree (Final Year) examination and the result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examination has been delayed can also apply for this examination.
SET Application Fee
Candidates have to pay the application fee to complete their online application process, the fee may vary according to the category of the candidates. The complete details regarding the fee are given below.

Payment Method: Candidates can pay their application fee through an online payment gateway. Candidates should have any one of the following options to make the online payment – Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking or UPI.
Date and Time of SLET Exam
State Eligibility Test (SET), 2025 will be conducted in two sessions on 23rd March 2025 (Sunday) for both papers. Candidates will have to attend both sessions. The details of the sessions including timings are given below.

Paper-I shall be of the general subject, intended to assess the teaching/ research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test the reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.
Paper-II shall consist of 100 objective-type questions based on the subject. Each question will carry 2 marks.
Note: The compensatory time provided to the visually impaired candidates and PWD candidates with writing disabilities in Paper-I is 20 minutes. Accordingly, there is a provision of 40 minutes of compensatory time in the case of Paper-II.

Assam SLET Exam Centres
It is endeavoured to make at least one centre in each constituent University of the SLET Commission with a minimum of 25 candidates. If the number falls short of this in a centre, then the candidates of that centre will be attached to the nearest centre.
