Selection Process for Group D Recruitment
The selection process for the RRB Group D Recruitment 2025 includes multiple stages: Computer-Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification (DV), and Medical Examination (ME). Below are the detailed steps:
1. Computer-Based Test (CBT)
The first stage of the selection process is a Computer-Based Test (CBT), which will be conducted online. Candidates will need to answer 100 objective-type questions within a duration of 90 minutes. For candidates with disabilities (PwBD) using a scribe, the duration is extended to 120 minutes.
The structure of the CBT is as follows:
Subject | Questions | Marks |
---|---|---|
General Science | 25 | 25 |
Mathematics | 25 | 25 |
General Intelligence & Reasoning | 30 | 30 |
General Awareness & Current Affairs | 20 | 20 |
Total | 100 | 100 |
Negative Marking: Candidates should note that there will be a negative marking of 1/3rd mark for every incorrect answer.
Qualifying Marks: The minimum qualifying marks for the RRB Group D CBT are 40% for General/EWS candidates and 30% for OBC/SC/ST candidates. For PwBD candidates, the minimum qualifying marks may be relaxed by 2% if there is a shortage of qualified candidates against the reserved vacancies.
2. Computer-Based Test (CBT)
Candidates who perform well in the CBT and rank within three times the number of vacancies will be eligible for the PET. The PET is a qualifying test, and candidates must meet the following criteria:
Weight Carrying
Male Candidates: 35 kg for 100 meters in 2 minutes.
Female Candidates: 20 kg for 100 meters in 2 minutes.
Running
Male Candidates: 1,000 meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds.
Female Candidates: 1,000 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds.
Candidates with benchmark disabilities (PwBD), Ex-Servicemen, and Course Completed Act Apprentices are exempted from the PET. However, PwBD candidates must pass the medical examination.
3. Document Verification (DV)
Candidates who clear the PET will be called for Document Verification (DV). The number of candidates called for this stage will be equal to the total number of vacancies, maintaining a 1:1 ratio. During this process, educational qualifications, community certificates, and other relevant documents will be verified.
In case of ties, preference will be given based on: 1) Candidate’s age (older candidates will be prioritized). 2) Alphabetical order of the candidate’s name, if the age is the same.
4. Medical Examination (ME)
The final step in the selection process is the Medical Examination (ME), conducted by the Railway Administration. Only candidates who pass this fitness test will be considered for appointment.
Important Notes
Normalization of Marks: If the CBT is conducted in multiple sessions, normalization of marks will be applied to ensure fairness.
Appointment: The final appointment is subject to the approval of the Railway Administration.
Preparation for PET: Candidates must ensure they are physically fit to participate in the PET as Railways will not be responsible for any injuries sustained during the test.
